Bespoke Development

When the Right Fabric Doesn’t Exist Yet!

Customization

Sometimes you know exactly what you want. Sometimes an existing fabric is close, but not quite right. And sometimes the requirement is something that does not fit into the usual options.
At Fabrino, we can work with you to develop, modify or recreate a fabric around your specific requirement—bringing together textile understanding, design thinking and practical manufacturing experience..

What Can Be Developed?

A fabric can be customised in many ways, depending on the requirement:

  • Weight & GSM – developing the desired thickness, weight or density.
  • Fabric Construction – modifying weave, construction or yarn character where practical.
  • Colour – developing specific shades, tones and colour effects.
  • Texture & Feel – creating a particular surface, handle or tactile character.
  • Prints & Patterns – developing new designs, placements, all-over prints and surface patterns.
  • Washing & Effects – creating washed, vintage, distressed, rugged or other visual effects.
  • Coatings & Finishes – exploring wax, water-repellent, coating and other specialised finishes.
  • Special Textile Effects – recreating or reinterpreting denim-like, weave-inspired, textured or other distinctive appearances

Starting With Your Reference

Your starting point can be almost anything relevant to the requirement:

A fabric sample. A photograph. A garment. A product. A print. Or simply an idea.

We study the reference, understand what you are trying to achieve and assess how closely its character can be recreated or reinterpreted using suitable fabrics and processes.

We do not promise an exact copy where technical or manufacturing limitations make that unrealistic. Instead, we focus on achieving the closest practical and commercially workable result.

If an Existing Fabric Is Almost Right

Bespoke development does not always mean creating something completely new.

Sometimes an existing fabric only needs a change in:

GSM → Colour → Construction → Texture → Print → Wash → Finish

Where practical, we can use an existing fabric as the starting point and modify it to better suit your product and requirement.

From Idea to Workable Fabric

Our approach combines three areas that need to work together:

Design Understanding

Understanding the visual character, texture, colour and overall appearance you are looking for.

Technical Understanding

Assessing fabric construction, yarns, GSM, dyeing, printing, washing and finishing possibilities.

Manufacturing Understanding

Ensuring that the developed textile is not only interesting as a sample, but can be produced in a practical and commercially workable manner.

Innovation Through Practical Experimentation

Many distinctive textiles come from experimenting with what is already possible.
We explore combinations of fabric, dyeing, printing, washing, coating and finishing techniques to recreate, reinterpret or develop new textile effects.
This is where our design studio and manufacturing experience come together—allowing an idea to move beyond a visual reference towards a fabric that can actually be produced.

Development Is Not Always the First Step

If you already have an approved fabric and simply need production, you can come directly to us.
If you have a specific requirement that needs modification or development, we can work through the development process with you.
You decide where you want to begin. We help you take it forward.
